Former US President Donald Trump shocked guests at Manhattan’s PubKey, a bar with a cryptocurrency theme, by making the first-ever Bitcoin transaction for a sitting or former US President.
The event occurred on Wednesday, prior to Trump’s scheduled rally on Long Island, as captured in a Fox News video showing the former president entering the establishment and subsequently completing a Bitcoin transaction with assistance from PubKey staff.
Trump Bitcoin Connection Extends Beyond the Bar
This public display of Bitcoin use follows Trump’s recent endorsement of World Liberty Financial, a cryptocurrency platform where he and his children hold stakes. World Liberty plans to introduce a governance token denoted as WLFI.

In recent months, Trump, who is presently vying for president a third time, has aggressively courted the support of the cryptocurrency sector. Among his endeavors are speeches at industry conferences where he promises to make the US the “crypto capital of the planet.”
Given his recent acquisition of Bitcoin, the former President has demonstrated his willingness to interact with cryptocurrencies, which begs the question of how digital currencies will function in politics going forward and what kinds of campaign finance plans he might use.
