Justin Sun has pledged to contribute $1 million if community backs.
Telegram founder Pavel Durov’s recent arrest in France, has led to industry-wide attention and support from prominent voices including Tron founder Justin Sun.
With the “FreePavel DAO” initiative, Sun has suggested a fresh, decentralized method of providing assistance. For Durov’s legal defense, Justin Sun has called for the community’s assistance in forming a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO).
“To support Telegram founder Pavel Durov’s legal freedom, we should organize a FreePavel DAO to demonstrate the unity of the cryptocurrency industry.”
We should show the cryptocurrency industry's unity by organizing a #FreePavel DAO to help Telegram founder Pavel Durov legally gain freedom. I'll donate $1 million if it's created in a decentralized way with enough community support. @elonmusk @MarioNawfal

Telegram, in the meantime, supported their CEO and demanded a speedy conclusion. The messaging app made a post on X highlighting its compliance with EU regulations, such as the Digital Services Act. Further, it noted that CEO Durov frequently travels in Europe and has “nothing to hide.”
“It is ludicrous to hold a platform or its proprietor accountable for misuse of said platform. We anticipate that this issue will be resolved quickly.”

However, Buterin noted that the charge appears to be “unmoderated” and does not release personal information.
“This looks very bad and worrying for the future of software and comms freedom in Europe.”
