Following a second outage, TON Blockchain is back online

The latest disruption lasted over four hours.

The second outage in two days has not prevented the TON blockchain network from operating again.

The TON Community announced the news on its Telegram channel early Thursday morning, Hong Kong time, confirming that TON-based asset withdrawals and deposits via Wallet would soon be processed.

The reason given for the most recent outage, which lasted more than four hours, was a “heavy load caused by DOGS token minting.”

TON Suffers Two Outages in Two Days

The most recent outage comes after a comparable one that occurred on Tuesday afternoon, US time, and was fixed just after midnight.

Observers initially noticed and the TON network subsequently verified the connection between the two disruptions and the minting of the DOGS token.

According to CoinDesk Indices, Toncoin, the native token of the TON protocol, saw an 8% increase in value after the announcement, despite the setbacks.

It is still lower than it was prior to Telegram CEO Pavel Durov’s arrest, though.

TON and Telegram have a legal separation, but their close relationship has garnered attention, especially after Durov was recently arrested in France.

He is accused of, among other things, failing to cooperate with authorities, facilitating illegal transactions, and child exploitation.

DOGS Token Leads to TON Network Outage

The TON blockchain experienced severe congestion following the introduction of the DOGS token, which resulted in an unplanned network outage.

The network’s capacity was strained due to the tremendous increase in on-chain activity brought about by the airdropped DOGS tokens’ overwhelming demand.

The official TON blockchain account on X announced on Tuesday night that there was a “abnormal load” causing a disruption in block production. The account also mentioned that in the previous 48 hours, about 20 million transactions had been processed.

Launched in July 2024, DOGS is marketed as the “most Telegram-native memecoin,” taking its cue from the mascot Spotty, which was made famous by Telegram CEO and founder Pavel Durov.

With almost 17 million members on its official Telegram channel, Dogs Community, the DOGS token has rapidly amassed a sizable following.

Furthermore, since its launch in July, the official X account of the DOGS Community has garnered 3.9 million followers, placing it in the same league as prominent players such as Pi Network and Ethereum in terms of social media influence.

Durov Released on $5.56 Million Bail

Durov has been granted bail by French authorities, but with very strict requirements, such as paying five million euros, appearing in person twice a week, and staying inside French territory.

According to Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau, the judge determined that there were adequate reasons to formally look into each of the charges that led to Durov’s initial detention.

These accusations include alleged collusion in the operation of an online marketplace that supports illegal activities, the dissemination of content that encourages child sex abuse, drug trafficking, fraud, disobedience to law enforcement, money laundering, and the provision of cryptographic services to lawbreakers.

But according to a video posted by the Russian state news agency RIA on Telegram and then X, Durov can be seen leaving the prosecutor’s office on Wednesday night while wearing a baseball cap, sunglasses, and a black outfit.
