The Democratic nominee appeared to make a pro-crypto statement at the event.
During a September 25 campaign stop in Pittsburgh, Democratic nominee Kamala Harris told the crowd that she would “encourage” emerging technologies like digital assets over her opponent, Donald Trump, if elected president.

I’m sure the “silence isn’t enough” “digital assets isn’t enough” crowd will move the goal post again.
But: progress!

She declared, “We will expand our lead in clean energy innovation and manufacturing, invest in biomanufacturing and aerospace, and remain dominant in AI and quantum computing, blockchain, and other emerging technologies.”
The former top prosecutor also appeared to allude to the implementation of regulations that would support cryptocurrencies, though she refrained from providing specifics following the announcement of her economic plan on Wednesday.
“We will encourage innovative technologies like AI and digital assets while protecting consumers and investors,” Harris continued. “We will create a safe business environment with consistent and transparent rules of the road.”
Donald Trump Rallies Ahead Of Presidential Election
Harris’s comments come at a crucial point in the election cycle, with recent polls showing a narrowing gap between the current U.S. vice president and Trump.
Trump has generally been perceived as the candidate who supports cryptocurrencies, but Harris has gradually gained support from significant players in the blockchain space, such as billionaire businessman and seasoned investor in digital assets Mark Cuban, who was present at the Carnegie Mellon University event on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, Trump resumed his campaign trail, giving a speech at a rally in Mint Hall, North Carolina, one of the key battleground states in November.
Trump, who recently introduced World Liberty Financial, his family’s innovative cryptocurrency platform, has pledged to implement pro-crypto legislation and remove current US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chair Gary Gensler should he win the presidency in November.
Due in large part to its strict regulation-by-enforcement approach to the blockchain industry as a whole, the SEC has long been a divisive force in crypto politics. Trump has vilified the agency for looking into American digital asset entrepreneurs.
“If for some reason bad, bad things happen and we don’t win the election, those people that were under investigation and that are free as a bird right now, people that were being looked at in the crypto world, they will be living in hell because it will start the day after the election if they win,” he said.
